We have done a lot of work in the past few years to design and build smart chargers for most of our battery systems.

The original smart charger (ACC-SMC-G1) has been available from CMT for the past 2 years, and provides a reliable system for discharging and recharging the system batteries of the MC5, PC5L, MC-GPS and PC5LGPS units. The ACC-SMC-G1 also provided an automated file transfer.

Unfortunately, because of the file transfer capability, the cost of the ACC-SMC-G1 ($295.00) was prohibitive for some customers. In order to meet the requests of our customers, CMT has developed a 'Charging Only' smart charger system (described below). By reducing the cost of the smart charger, we hope that more customers will be able to benefit from this advanced battery technology.

Description: Replacement battery pack. This field-replaceable battery is conveniently attached to MARCH with thumb screws. Additional battery packs can be purchased.

Description: The ACC-SMC-G2-M smart charger can be used with your existing March unit with no modification required to your March battery or March unit. When you come in from the field, simply plug the smart charger into COM2:. The color LED will let you know when it is ready to use.

Description: The MAR-AUXBAT is used to supply power from a 6V auxiliary battery to a MARCH unit. The MAR-AUXBAT is used only to supply power a MARCH unit, it CAN NOT be used to recharge MARCH batteries.
Includes: ACC-RE3B (110v recharger) or ACC-RE4B (220v recharger), Nylon Case and MAR-AUXBAT.

System Smart Chargers & Batteries

The system battery smart charger requires that your MC-GPS be modified to 'smart charger-ready', and that you use the 2100mAH battery (GPS-BATPAK-BK-2100). If it has already been modified, a sticker labeled 'SMC' has been placed near the COM2: port.

Description: Field replacement receiver (engine) battery for MC-GPS and PC5L-GPS. The GPS receiver battery smart charger requires a new receiver battery because it uses a three pin connector instead of a straight plug. Since the new GPS-ENG-BAT-G3 has a higher capacity, you will get 50% more operating time than GPS-ENG-BAT. The GPS-ENG-BAT-G3 uses an improved screw design so any coin may be used to remove the battery from the MC-GPS/PC5LGPS-6 unit.

Note for the PC5L-GPS-8 (8- Channel PC5L-GPS) model:

1) Please note that some of the parts which apply to the PC5L-GPS (6-channel) are not supported by the PC5L-GPS-8.

2) The PC5L-GPS-8 has a different battery system than the PC5L-GPS or the MC-GPS. The PC5L-GPS-8 has two rechargeable battery packs (Part No. ACC-BK-G2-BAT). The battery packs are inserted into the back of the unit and held in place with thumb screws. In order for the PC5L-GPS-8 to operate correctly, both batteries must be properly charged. For extended periods of data collection, at least two spare battery packs are recommended.

(Note: the ACC-SMC-G2-M can be used. This requires that the unit have an 'SMC' sticker above the COM2 port, or be returned to CMT for the $95.00 'SMC' modification ($245.00 includes ACC-SMC-G2-M smart charger and modification).
