A starship in the Star Wars universe is defined as ‘a ship designed for interstellar travel’ and as such, some vehicles that you may be expecting to see on this list may have been omitted. Another distinction for starships that is sometimes made is the inclusion of a hyperdrive, however this distinction has been relaxed slightly to include starfighters, which weren’t commonly installed with a hyperdrive.
This guide attempts to contain every starships that is or has been in service during the Old Republic era, with hyperlinks to relevant a Wookieepedia page if available, or alternate source if not. This guide firstly organises starships into the three main classes to make it easier. The three main classes are as follows:
- STARFIGHTER
- FREIGHTER
- CAPITAL SHIP
The ships are also organised into allegiance. Since starships aren’t physically locked to a faction, and for the most part anyone with the skill to fly can fly these starships, the allegiance has been decided by the faction who saw most use with that particular starship. Starships written in italics denote a specific starship, not a general model of starship. This is done in the case where only one starship is known to exist within a class, and no specific class has been listed for that starship.

The following section is comprised solely of fan created content, otherwise referred to as 'fanon'. This means that the content is not recognised by any lore authority, and is thus considered non-canon. However, given the sparseness of the Old Republic starships (in comparison to other eras), and the creativity of the Darth Malgus RP community, a fanon section has been added that aims to also list every player-created starship within the Darth Malgus community.
It is important to note that details regarding these starships can be very sparse, and may not include any information beyond a model name. Where applicable, links to the creators of the starships have been included if you wish to find out more about a given model.Freighter - S28 Light Freighter - Created By

StarWars: The Old Replublic: Every Star Wars: The Old Republic player knows just how important a well-rounded starship can be to someone who is just starting out. Players use their ships for transportation, combat, and as a source of refuge in the cold, inhospitable vacuum of space, and it doesn’t hurt to fly in style.

There are currently six customizable starships made available over the course of the player’s quest, but how will you know which one is right for you? Fortunately, we have a guide detailing the different types of ships below:
BT-7 Thunderclap
[ezcol_1third]
[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Outfitted with state-of-the-art laser cannons and thick plate armor, the Thunderclap is an excellent option for players who prefer a lot of combat in their gameplay. The ship also includes an armory, a medical bay, and a number of recreational rooms to keep your squad entertained during those lengthy space flights[/ezcol_2third_end]
D5-Mantis
[ezcol_1third]
[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]
A rather rare find, the D5-Mantis is a compact assault ship built with efficiency in mind. Its small size and three retractable weapons foils make it perfect for quick space battles, and is great for darting in and out of enemy fire with ease. However, its cramped interior might discourage larger squads.

Defender
[ezcol_1third]
[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]This stylish, multi-tiered starship was constructed with the Jedi in mind, placing emphasis on comfortable travel rather than battle. Its two levels contain a medical bay, a cargo hold, and a room built specifically for silent meditation. Although it fares worse in combat situations than many other types of ships, its twin laser cannons and powerful shields can work just fine in a pinch[/ezcol_2third_end]
Fury
[ezcol_1third]
[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]These versatile beauties are the preferred starships of Sith Lords. Their angular shape allows for great maneuverability in hectic battles, and their unique “strike foils” can be deployed in certain situations to improve speed and firing distance.[/ezcol_2third_end]
X-70B Phantom
[ezcol_1third]
[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Shaped much like a spearhead, the X-70B Phantom is the result of centuries of research. This high-tech, low-profile features a state-of-the-art navigational system and a radar-resistant casing. Perfect for players who prefer to be a little more stealthy, it is sub-par in combat.[/ezcol_2third_end]
Star Wars The Old Republic Free
XS Freighter
[ezcol_1third]
[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Don’t be fooled by its size – the XS Freighter is one of the fastest ships on the market. Its broad interior hides many secret compartments, perfect for stowing away cargo and contraband alike. Its numerous turrets can be controlled either remotely or manually from within the cockpit, and it houses a number of beds and recreational rooms to keep squads busy when things are peaceful.
